The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is ready to partner in Public-private partnerships (PPP) for the revitalization of the Oguta River Port in Imo State. The Managing Director of NIWA Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, FCIB, disclosed this in a meeting with the Technical Team of the Orashi Special Energy Free Trade Zone in Abuja.

While hosting the team led by Dr. Chioma Nwachukwu, at the Authority’s Liaison Office in Abuja, the Managing Director, stated that the process of reviving the Oguta River Port in Imo State has commenced through the PPP. He further disclosed that the Oguta River Port is central to the development of the South East region and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, through the Federal Ministry of Marine Economy.

The MD also stated that NIWA is open to a public-private partnership for the quick revitalisation of the port facility.

Dr Chioma expressed the readiness of her company to work with the Authority in actualizing the potential of the port facility to attract investments and promote industrial activities and generate employment opportunities.
