The Orashi Special Energy Free Zone is a flagship industrial platform developed by the Imo State Government to unlock the South-East’s energy, industrial, and logistics potential. Strategically located in a prolific hydrocarbon corridor, the Zone supports gas-based industrialisation, large-scale manufacturing, and export-led growth, aligning with Nigeria’s Decade of Gas and the 3R agenda of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
NIGERIA Nigeria—Africa’s largest economy—holds the continent’s biggest gas reserves, with over 210 tcf of proven natural gas. Its national strategy prioritises export diversification, industrialisation, and gas monetisation. These policies position the Orashi Free Zone as a national catalyst for energy-driven industrial transformation.
IMO STATE Imo State is a key commercial and industrial hub in South-East Nigeria, home to over 6 million people and significant hydrocarbon deposits. Its strategic location and resource base give the state strong competitive advantages, reinforcing its emergence as a major centre for energy, manufacturing, and regional economic growth.
With strong political support from His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Imo State is advancing major infrastructure- and energy-led development.
The Orashi Zone spans over 140,000 hectares across four LGAs: Oguta, Ohaji/Egbema, Owerri West, and Ngor Okpala. It operates under the Free Zones Act and is regulated by the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), ensuring a centralised, streamlined, one-stop regulatory system.
In essence, Orashi Free Zone is a multi-hub ecosystem uniting energy, industry, logistics, and exports into a globally competitive powerhouse.
